The Hollywood United Hitmen maintained their 100% record in their debut PDL season with a comfortable 3-0 victory
over the visiting Lancaster Rattlers here at Palisades High School Sunday evening.
Plagued by injuries the Rattlers faced the top team in the Division and possibly the League Sunday evening along the
beach in Pacific Palisades. The Hollywood Hitmen 12pts and a 4-0-0 record. Complete there 4th game sweep of the
Southwestern Division by beating the Lancaster Rattlers 3-0 in front of about 50 of there fans . At Dolphin field in
Palisades High School.
Rattlers were missing a good part of the starting line up Sunday evening because of a string of injuries.
Martin Galvan a twisted ankle since May 3rd game with the LA Legends. Jose Garay a main power up front had his hand
slammed in a car door just one week before returning from school in Kansas, and it required screws to be put in and put
him out until June. Starting defender Taylor Rivas with a knee injury and got hit with a elbow in the throat Saturday
evening while playing against the Orange County Blue Stars. Brandon Howell who at home against BYU Cougars where
he and a BYU player went for the ball and headed each other instead of the ball and Brandon required 30 stitches to
put his lip back on. No head injury . Ozzie Lopez required 8 staples in his head from a elbow to his head when facing the
Cougars of BYU. Aaron Parker Forward was in a car accident and broke his hand and he will be in a hard cast for up to
6 weeks. Newly signed defender Mario Omelas discovered a heart problem during a examination for dizziness that he
had experienced during a practice session.
Hollywood were fastest and ready to take advantage of that situation without knowing it. , striker Jaime Chavez tested
Lancaster back line and keeper Zach Brunner after just six minutes. This was just a taste of things to come. The
Hitmen were 1-0 up five minutes later when, Nick Kohlschreiber arrived at speed through a crowded penalty area and
managed to slip a ball past the defender and past Brunner.
Hollywood were 2-0 up before Lancaster could regroup; regroup they did as they put on a lot more pressure on the
first place Team. Lots of shots for Lancaster most off the post or off to the side. Rattlers Forward Mauricio Harrie had
opportunities but came up empty. Midfielder Miguel Ibarra had his share of the shots but like Harrie just came up short.
Things settled down thereafter, with the majority of the possession, Lancaster still kept threatening . Rattlers striker
Christian Hernandez came close to the net when he latched a ball on target, but right straight in to the arms of
Hollywood's keeper Jose Miranda.
The second half saw Lancaster begin to attack the home team with a lot more pressure, the Rattlers came close to
ending the score against status when the Rattlers got the Hitmen scrambling. With the Hitmen now trying to gain control
back it put them on the defensive end of the game and therefore slowed there attack down. Nick Kohlschreiber got
through the Rattlers defense, and took a shot a bluet on goal to have it punched away by Brunner. Kohlschreiber was
again in the thick of things a few minutes later when he took a free kick Brunner pushed it in to the cross bar.
The third goal came in the 59th minute through the clever thinking of Jaime Chavez who, after earning a foul on the
edge of the Lancaster 18 yard box, Chavez asked for the wall and the Referee back the line up and Chavez kick the
ball before the whistle was blown and the Rattler defense and keeper Brunner knowing the official had not blown the
whistle wasn't expecting the kick and the Referees allowed the goal even with out the whistle. Its always good when an
official is on your side.
The Rattlers continued to attack but were unable to find the net. Mauricio Harrie made an excellent attempt in the last
few minutes with a rush on the net attempt an shot the United Keeper made the stop but unable to control it , the
rebound came right back to Lancaster’s Mauricio Harrie who fired it back but right at the keeper as he was attempting
to get up from the pitch.
Things got a little rough towards the end of the game, when a pushing match broke out on the pitch following a push to
Rattlers Richard Gavan by Nick Blanco; with the referee's back away from the play a Hitman came up from behind of
Galvan and put his elbow in Galvan's back knocking him to the ground Galvan and Blanco were both booked for their
actions – Galvan for the tackle, Blanco for the retaliation – and Blanco left the game in the 88th minute to protect him
from a possible 2nd yellow that would result in a RED card.
Ratters next will travel to Fresno to face the Fuego on Sunday May 24th and its a 2pm game.
