Bakersfield, Calif.- Rattlers begin the last road trip of the season on a winning note knocking off  the Bakersfield
Brigade 3-2 Friday night at Bakersfield Christian High School. Jose Garay scored two goals as Mauricio Harrie
scores the game winner and had an assist in the win.
Just 13 minutes in to the game, Mauricio Harrie carried the ball to the
23 yard line too the right of the Bakersfield net and made a perfect
pass over to  awaiting forward Jose Garay, who then took the pass and
placed it in neatly to the far post of Bakersfield keeper Victor Chinchilla
to take an early lead. Then just 14 minutes later Garay in the keeper
box 10 yards out caught up to a loose ball in the air and volleyed it over
the Bakersfield defender to the far post and again slipped it passed
Chinchilla and, that gave the Rattlers an early 2-0 lead in just  27th
minute of play.
Bakersfield, in the 43rd minute put an attack on the Rattlers defense
that got off the only three shots of the half. One shot was on target but
stopped quickly by the Rattlers keeper Zach Brunner , Then a foul was
called on the Rattlers 20 yards out  and Bakersfield was given a restart,
that was  taken by Bakersfield Ken Taylor who fired a rocket through
the Rattlers wall, passed Brunner to put the Brigade on the board in the
45th minute.
The first half of the game was clearly controlled by the Rattlers, but as
the second half opened up, the Brigade wanted to show they weren't
done yet and they surprised the Rattlers defense with a sudden surge
of power and control. The Brigade backed the Rattlers up  in to there
own zone as they put the pressure on, but the Brigade  were unable to
create any scoring threat against the Rattlers.
In the 59th minute of play Mauricio Harrie at the left side of the midfield took the ball across the center of the field
and shot it passed the keeper Chinchilla for what was the winning goal, as the Brigade came back 3 minutes later
to answer that goal with one of their own. As they countered and shot on target but the attempt was spoiled by
Rattlers keeper Brunner as he deflected the ball out, the Brigade picked it up and fired again, and again Brunner
turned in away. But then on the third attempt Brigades Heber Mora passed it over to the far post to awaiting
defender Adam Arteaga who slipped it pass Brunner to come with in one. The Brigade showed signs of being
disparate as Arteaga  received his second caution card of the game for dissent and was sent off. Then in the
63rd minute the Brigade's coach Francisco Gomiez was sent off for his behavior and conduct towards the
officials. In the 85th minute of play player/ coach Jay Gorel came in to the game. The disparate play of the Brigade
really came out as the Rattlers midfielder Miguel Ibarra was on a breakaway down the left side of the Brigade
zone.  Playing the last man Gorel was unable to get around Ibarra, so he took him out with a dangerous play and
immediately received the Brigades third red card of the game. That left the team with only 9 players and the
Rattlers collected the three points and will prepare now for the final two games of the season. In Utah the Rattlers
will face the Ogden Outlaws (2-10-1) and BYU Cougars (6-4-3) as they look to pick up the last 6 points of the
season.
